According to www.AAA.com the national average cost for gas right now is $3.509/gallon, with California being the highest at an average of $3.898/gallon.
There seems to be little optimism in gas prices coming down any time soon, so with summer right around the corner, a time of year when most families plan to travel and vacation, will your plans change to accommodate the escalating prices at the pump?
Even though CA gas prices may be one of, if not, the highest on average, we are fortunate in that we can try and counter balance the impact it has on our wallets by checking out some of our state’s great escapes that are literally in our backyards.
California has so many beautiful destinations, whether your north, south, east or west, many destinations are only a short drive away and offer opportunities to camp, so you can save on lodging and food. The state and national parks offer countless opportunities to experience the diverse destinations of California…The majestic waterfalls of Yosemite, sandy beaches of Santa Barbara, the great coastal redwoods of Humboldt County, geographic phenomenas like Mt.Lassen, the pristine water in Lake Tahoe, seascapes like Big Sur and so many more.
If camping isn’t your idea of fun, the state park system offers reasonably priced lodging alternatives to a tent, check out http://www.parks.ca.gov/ for more details.
If your travel plans already include a vacation to Lake Tahoe, safe travels and we look forward to having you here to experience one of the world’s most beautiful destinations! If your plans do not include Lake Tahoe, we hope you’ll visit soon!
