Spring Is Heating Up!

It’s Spring So Why Not Head to the Hot “Spring”s?

Even though the snow is quickly melting, hiking and biking trails are not quite clear and the beach is still a little too chilly, so what should one do to get outside and enjoy Lake Tahoe this spring?

One of my favorite spring activities is to head to the hot springs!  My family has been making the 20-30 minute drive from South Lake Tahoe to Grover Hot Springs in Markleeville, CA for over 30 years.

I have fond memories as a little girl of packing up the family car with our beach towels, bathing suits and a picnic perfect for a spring afternoon!

We would spend countless hours as kids swimming in the cold pool while aour parents enjoyed the hot springs.  After expending our “kid” energy, mom and dad would take us out to the car where we would have our picnic lunch “tailgate” style overlooking the beautiful surrounding meadows.

After refueling on Mother’s brand “Taffy” cookies and turkey sandwiches, we’d head back in to enjoy the pools a bit longer and watch the sun go down.

One of my favorite parts of these excursions was the soft serve vanilla ice cream cone that we would get on the way back home.  Just before turning on the highway toward Luther Pass there’s a little general store that has lots of goodies!  I think the store is still there, but not so sure about the ice cream cones, bummer! :(

Another great part about the hot springs is that it is by far one of the most affordable activities and they have lifeguards on duty! $7 per adult and $5 per child and usually open from 11am-7pm, most days of the week. I would call ahead of time (530) 694-2249 to confirm days and times of operation.

Happy Spring!!!

Lady Antebellum Is Coming Back to Lake Tahoe!

Lady Antebellum opened for Tim McGraw last year as part of Harvey’s “Lake Tahoe Summer Outdoor Concert Series” and were a BIG hit! They have continued to get bigger and better with their recent Grammy win and I am so excited to have them back this summer as the headliner!

Harvey’s provides a great atmosphere to see concerts in the summer, mild temperatures, picturesque sunsets over Edgewood Tahoe golf course as the backdrop and just enough seats for a crowd that’s perfect in size.

If you love good music, great people, the outdoors and Lake Tahoe, then you may want to consider buying tickets for Lady Antebellum and/or one of many wonderful artists coming to Tahoe to perform in 2011.

Tickets will sell out fast and go on sale this Monday, I’ve included the details in the link below.  Plan on getting a vacation rental? If yes and want to be within a short distance to Harvey’s, be sure to check out homes in the Heavenly Valley, Montgomery Estates, Highland Woods and Zephyr Cove neighborhoods. Hope to see you in July!
